Karen,
I'm sure it was hard to be that honest. You are really taking giant steps in this area.
I also think it was sweet that you lied about how you felt his wife looked. You put his feelings in front of yours and didn't make him defend her or compliment you. I personally never think complete honesty comes before some sensitivity, especially in little things that don't really matter.
This actually says a lot about you...whether you want to concede that you are nice or not. :)
