Progesterone for PMS/PMDD

Posted by Ariella on August 29, 2001, at 12:35:46

Has anyone tried progesterone for PMS/PMDD? I'm currently on paxil for anxiety and have just noticed a correlation with my menstrual cycle. I get very anxious/panicky approx 1 week before menses. I recently read "Once a Month" by Katharina Dalton and she recommends progesterone suppositories. She says that it has to be natural progesterone and not progestrogen.

I am wondering if anyone has tried this type of therapy. Did you use natural progesterone or synthetic progesterone? Did it help?

I would like to try it but I have found that all the PMS clinics around here advocate the use of ssri's.

Would the paxil I am taking significantly affect my menstrual chart so that a diagnosis would be difficult?

Thanks,
Ariella
