I'm sure you've already thought about breathing techniques, slow deep breathing is wonderfully calming.
My son was taught in therapy to tap. He taps the back of his hand, his wrist and his forehead. And it really does work for him. I'll try to dig up the references.
Music works for me as a distraction. My favorite calming technique is reading an old favorite book, that I know really well, but still love.
I hate anxiety! I'd rather be sad.
