> Since you mentioned that selenium is good for detoxing mercury, I've been looking for foods that are high in this mineral. A lot of those foods are meat and dairy. I don't eat read meat or fowl, and I eat very little fish and dairy, but I do eat them occassionally. I'm looking for fruits, vegetables and nuts that contain selenium. In searching the web I've found that Brazil nuts, brocoli, brussel sprouts and mushrooms are good sources. Do you know of any others by chance?

The only dependable source for selenium, IMHO, is selenium yeast. It's grown in a specially prepared nutrient solution, and the yeast incorporate the selenium directly into amino acids.

The other sources you mention depend entirely on the soil where they are grown. A recent study of brazil nuts, for example, showed over 1000-fold variation in selenium content, depending on what part of Brazil they were grown. I wouldn't want to bet my health on such an unknown. The others you mention do not contain enough selenium to counteract mercury toxicity.
