In reply to Need Help...I have to take magnesium, posted by WaterSapphire on August 16, 2008, at 5:34:54
I'm no expert in the field of alternative medicine. I can only offer my personal experience with magnesium.I have always been skeptical(or just plain ignorant) of alternative options when it comes to healthcare. However, I have been suffering with facial tics lately and they didn't go away as I'd hoped. It was very frustrating to say the least. So anyway, I did my research on facial tics and thought for sure that I had Tourettes(sp?). While researching --I came across several sites that suggested Flax oil. I tried Flax oil with some small degree of success--enough to continue taking it. I was grasping for anything at the time. However, it was not until I began looking into the relationship between facial tics and magnesium deficiencies that I found the magic bullet. Again--I was desperate to keep away from Haldol/Zyprexa and the likes. after starting magnesium--I noticed a tremendous improvement. Maybe it was just a lucky shot in the dark or perhaps some psychosematic response--but it works for me--but as Scott mentioned---results vary in individuals. However, My wife works in Urology--and she did her homework too and found out that there is a relationship between magnesium and kidney stones--which I've had several stones too. coincidence? Maybe--but I'm sold on it. I'm going to try to post a link for your reading. there is no one definative site--but you can Google stuff and draw your own conclusions--hopefully in collabaration with your Dr--who has knowledge unavailable to most of us mortals. good luck. that's my take on the subject and I wish you the same degree of success as I've had.
