> I've also done ecstacy and experienced a bliss and joy that were wonderful. It opened my eyes to what we are capable of when our hearts are open to life and to each other. Love is the truly healing energy you describe and would that taking a drug could make it last forever. Alas, this is not so and taking x is very hard on the body and the brain and it can be very unpredictable as well. Not all trips are good. I like the gas additive analogy, once in a while can be a good tuneup. You'll no doubt do it again so make sure you're really healthy in body and mind beforehand.

Meds of any kind can bring us to the doorway and dust off the road perhaps, but stepping over and walking the Path unencumbered is what this life is about, IMHO. The dark, the light, all of it. Many spiritual teachers out there to guide you, and inside as well. - BarbaraCatThanks for your post BarbaraCat. For some reason this thread has been stuck in my mind. I've tried ecstasy a few times and I have found it to be a wonderful reminder of what's possible. I haven't done much, and with long periods of time in between, but afterwards I would often have a "halo effect" that spurred my growth for months afterwards. There's a lot of precautions one can take to increase the probability of a good experience. It's a drug to be handled very carefully but I think it has its uses. Maybe the PTSD trial on ecstasy will help illuminate the up and the down sides.
Your post captures my philosophy on X better than I could have written myself.
