Scott:
Well I had a little trouble w/ DBT, recalling all the skills .. just a few 'stuck'. But I think you're the second person that has had 'good things' to say about CBT. In fact, think someone told me they preferred CBT to DBT.
I've been on Effexor when it first looked like a 'monopoly house' and in XR form at least five times. It never got me anywhere but further back! It certainly suppressed emotions, but way all too much!! Heck, I chose a 'con man' (well couldn't or wouldn't see it at first) and fell in love w/ him while on it! Lying, stealing .. things I'd never dealt w/ before in my life. After 10yrs w/ him, I 'see' and have now let him go. Last time on Eff-XR was March of last year.
Topomax was prescribed in an initial small dose for my back pain. It wasn't on the county formulary for psychiatric treatment. So, I did have high hopes. But, I had some of the same adverse side effects as just did w/ Abilify. The burning eyes was the worst. Saline solution didn't help at all. I gave it prob' 2wks and was unable to tolerate my eyes burning so badly.
Sort of change of subject .. had burning eyes in the past to, I think, niacin.
Will be more open-minded to CBT.
