I finally had him look at the little boy in the mirror and ask him what the little boy in the mirror needed to make him feel better.Oh Dinah, that brought tears to my eyes.
Your son reminds me so much of my older sister.
She was so "good" always clean, quiet, she got good marks in school, and so very sensitive. When my mom said something cruel to her (about her weight usually) and she was hurt she didn't cry, her eyes would just go wide and her lips would tremble. It broke my heart then, and I was only 7. I think if my mom had asked her something as tender and loving as you did of your son, it would have changed her whole life.
What a beautiful thing to do.
I most certainly can't give any suggestions on weathering marriage stress, but I'm so sorry things are seemingly unendingly hard for you right now. Thinking of you, as always.
Gx2P.S. My sister is very happy now!
