I can relate to what you're going through.

I have a nineteen year old daughter. Spent a fortune to get custody when she was 15 and she moved out to live with a boyfriend at 16. Much of this had already been in motion before I became the custodial parent.

It's been rough. She dropped out of school at 16 when she went on a road trip with her mother. I later discovered that she had been smoking since about 12.

She still doesn't have her GED and it's a shame since most of her college is paid for by a trust fund. Of course, I'm not happy with the boyfriend who's 9 years older and also a high-school dropout and heavy smoker. She has a min wage job and he doesn't work.

It's sad. I don't even want to be around her anymore. I'm wondering whether my love was conditional. I'm a borderline so I tend to see things black and white.

Perhaps your two girls will help to keep each other in check and it might be easier than having just one girl. I'm just musing off the top of my head.

I'm glad my parenting days are over. I'm so burned out on holidays and all the must-see kid's movies. Hearing the sounds of a school playground is painful. I like kids - well, at least, I still act like a kid - but I need some distance right now.
