>>>When someone posts about positive experiences with or beliefs about psychiatrists, do you feel equally compelled to demand that they not generalize and insist that they clearly qualify every single statement they make to include the fact that some people have had negative encounters? No.
Um, maybe you should read some of my other posts, you would see that this statement is not *true*.
>>Instead you chose to make demands that I not generalize.
You paraphrased my words as being silencing - I was clarifying.
>>>You advocate for patients to educate themselves, believing them more responsible for protecting themselves from unethical clinicians than professional bodies,I did not say they were *more* responsible, but yes I said they have some responsibility for educating themselves about seeking therapy. That's one of the reasons people come to babble, no?
>>>Also, writing the word mythology in a discussion where we are talking about abusive practictioners implies that the stories are untrue. Myths are untrue stories. I assure you that the people who are writing (or unable to write because it is too painful) on the hospitalization thread are not spreading "myths."
I wrote myths about psychology and *my experience* in trying therapy - & historical myths that do exist. I did not say, not have ever said, that the stories related in the thread were myths, so I wonder how you came to this conclusion.Popular culture mythologizes many things and experiences - seeking psychological help is one of them.
Hmm, no mention is made by you of the statements I have over and over - saying "abuses occur", "I have had a bad experience with a therapist" etc etc.
We will have to agree to disagree - any further discussions appears futile.
