I know this is probably such an over-used answer, but working out really helps me. It can be any kind of physical exertion. If you're not in stellar shape (like most people), go for a walk, walking as fast as you can without thinking of when you're going to be done. Don't think about all the little immediate things you need to do. Think about the big picture and the person you aspire to be. Listen to some music while you walk. Listen to something that is uplifting and encouraging. Sometimes I use girl-power songs, but really any that promote the positive side of energy are good. Get lost in that world. You'll know when you are finished. When you are done you will feel adequately able to handle the load that overwhelmed you before. This is my experience, anyway.
