Well, geez. It's too bad she's going to feel so bad. I can't really see how you could do much more to help her than tell her how magical she made your childhood and how much you appreciate it. I mean, you could tell her over and over, but it sounds like she's just going to brush it off. Which is pretty tragic, but not your responsibility. You sound like you're doing a good job of loving her.
Take care of yourself. Maybe you should tell *yourself* what a nice thing you did for your mom, calling her and telling her that. Or tell your therapist. You and me and your T can give you a bunch of validation, even if your mom can't on this one!
