Thank you so much for your concern. Quintal I don't think Dr Larry was reprimanding me but only giving me an admonition which is more than any of my suppliers (GP's) have given me.
I have to confess, and I will probably regret saying this but I did have severe serotonin syndrome by taking parnate with something else (small dosage) and I ended up in a coma for three days. The toxicologist (fellow)who treated me told me that I was the worst case of poisioning he had ever had to treat in all his years of practice after severely reprimanding me.
I guess it doesn't matter whether the amphetamine is a metabolite of tranylcypromine or not. Even after my life-threatening experience I went back on parnate it gave me my life back with the added stimulant effect and the addiction may well be a psychological addiction as a posed to chemical addiction which is still a very powerful factor.
I have also tried to do alot of research on it by searching through alot of medical and toxicology journals (I have free access to them because I am a uni student) and because parnate is an old drug and the journal articles are quite old, I was only able to access the abstract of a few journal articles. Most of the articles pertain to the dangers of parnate with tyramine rich foods. I actually forgot that I couldn't eat cheese the other day and I hate three slices of pizza a few hours after taking 40mg of parnate and I felt quite sick though I did not go into hypertensive crisis.
I also came across the lady who got addicted to parnate and climbed up to 400mg. Maybe your body does get used to it or maybe she was just bloody lucky. There just haven't been enough studies about the effect of taking parnate *alone*. At the moment I could take 100mg so I will keep you posted on what happens when I do go higher. It was only today though that I felt a striking pain in my chest and who knows if the long term effects could possibly result in a heart block. I will keep you guys posted though.
