TC, There was a time in my 30's that I wore a size 4 skirt, it was tight but I loved the color and bought it anyway. I also used to pin my skirt and slacks at the waist becasue things would just hang off me. I didn't have to exercise or anything. Many people told me I was too thin but it wasn't anything I even thought about. Just started AD's then and I think my nervous energy kept the weight off plus my youth and higher metabolism.
So twenty years later, everything has changed. Without exercise and I am not there yet, I would be 200 now. I maxed around 195 after a few months on Nardil and that shocked me into doing something physical. It is not very quick nor do my clothes fit anymore, but I can start to see some change in my muscle tone and strength which is very important for me.
You didn't mention your age (here I go again, sorry), but by the time we are in our 40's, we start to lose muscle mass and tone and exercise is the only way to combat this. I was also losing my balance and I think by doing more physical activity, I have better chance to regain and improve this.
Phillipa has a good suggestion with lipo if ther are areas of your body that could be sculpted and who doesn't? Between that and exercise you have a really good chance to get on the road to regaining some of your former physique. The 20 or 30 something body is gone but to be toned and stronger is alot of what we need as we age.
I wouldn't jump into the band procedure as a first choice. Too many risks and poor outcomes unless your MD is tops and has done many, many of these procedures. Ask if you are a candidate for lipo as a first pass procedure. That maybe enough to motivate you to exercise to keep your new shape.
