hey gg -

i'm not totally up on all the different types of yoga either.

wikipedia has an interesting description:

although this page doesn't really explain what hatha yoga looks like.

the only other yoga class i had taken was at the y about 5 years ago. this one felt very different.

less emphasis on chanting. many many sun salute postures. the postures were chained together with flowing movements, which was different than my last experience and i liked it very much. there was some repetition of the chained movements when going from side to side (so three postures on one side, then rest to a comfortable posture, then three on the other side, etc)

not too many difficult postures. not a lot of funky balance required. (maybe because it was drop in targeted at beginners? who knows)

anyway interesting experience and i will be attending again this week.
