Dinah,
I don't know if this will help or not. I volunteer for a Hospice organization, and I can't think of a better way to 'go' than at home, in familiar surroundings, with 'mom' nearby, just sort of drifting away to await you when you go. (Oh, that's just my belief and hope that they await us.)

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. I think the only person to whom I've given my heart and soul was Scruffles (who is no longer here). Her passing was DEVASTATING to me. I got her as a pup and she passed at 14.

I have a Collie that has severe hip dysplasia (sp?) and can hardly walk now. I think if he has another week, maybe 2, without pain, that will be good. I would love it if he could just drift away, but I think it will have to be a trip to the vet's office.

Anyhow, I am so very sorry for your loss, but I DO believe you all will meet up again. I, myself, plan to go to Doggie Heaven when I die. I think it'll be a lot better than 'regular' heaven.

I encourage you to visit www.petloss.com where you can post a 'memorial' to your pet and read the Rainbow Bridge story.

Whatever you decide to do, you have my deepest sympathy.

xoxo
Shar
