Well, my husband has been preaching on Sunday's at a great church about an hour away. He has agreed to stay there and preach on Sunday's until they find a permenant pastor ( we don't feel called to this church- there is nothing in the school system there for our autistic son).
Anyway, that has left us wondering what direction God wanted us to take. We have felt very strongly that God did not want us to move but to stand still and wait on Him.
As we have been in this "standing still" phase (can you say TORTURE? LOL), it seems God has placed a real burden in our hearts' for our community like never before.
And, as my husband and I have prayed, we have felt strongly that we should consider staying here and planting a church in our community.
So... this is where it God's weird (or ironic or shall I say "divine")....
We have been praying for God to make it clear to us if this is indeed what He desires us to do.
Well, oddly enough, a few people from our old church have spontanously called us to tell us they feel strongly the Lord wants them to "plant monthly seeds into our ministry" (translation: give us money each month).
THEN... this is the really, really, really weird part; the city is going to buy out our house (and my in laws whom we rent from) and put a road straight through our property. This very morning my father in law finally came to an agreement on the price with the city (he is getting a pretty penny!). Well, they are paying him in 30 days but said we can both live on our places rent free until they bulldoze the places next May (which means we can save money on rent!!).
AND, my fahter in law found property about 4 miles away with 20 acres of land, two houses, and a huge barn. He made an offer on it. They declined.. Today they called back and accepted it.
Now, taht's not even the weird part. The neat/strange part is that when we all went out last week to view the property he bid on, we went into this huge barn and it had been converted into a CHURCH!!!!!!!!!!!! Apparently, it was owned by a Korean couple that ran a Christian camp in the summer and converted the barn into the church.
It seats 120 people (there already were pews and a pulpit), it has men and ladies restrooms, etc..
They even agreed to leave all the church equipment for my fahter in law (a piano, small sound system, chairs, etc..).
Somebody tell me this is not a big, fat, huge sign from God saying, " YES, I am telling you to do this." ROFLPray for us as we make a HUGE step of faith. I mean a HUGE step. Planting a church is no easy task but we know if God calls us, He will equip us.
