For me, I experienced no side effects at all. I just kept an eye on my blood electrolytes at first to be sure that I didn't develop hyponatremia (low blood sodium).

Can it help with unipolar depression? Probably not. It can help with bipolar disorder and conditions that present with impulse control impairments. Combining Treleptal and Lamictal can work to treat bipolar disorder without having to add an antidepressant or antipsychotic.
