From what I've read, eating soy products, particularly soy sauce, while taking Parnate is NOT really OK. I've been taking Parnate for ages and never had a hypertensive crisis. I probably had Chinese food w/soy sauce countless times but maybe their particular brand and/or quantity of soy sauce were within safe parameters. One never knows, do one? There are differences in tyramine levels in different brands of soy sauce and everyone reacts to medications and the "forbidden foods" differently. I'd suggest that anyone taking an MAOI really err on the side of caution with soy products.
