Thr problem with Effexor is that pharmacologically, it is very close to a combination of cocaine and amphetamines in both chemical structure and effect. It sure made me feel high and good for the first couple of weeks, but then other problems kicked in, like a propensity to consume large quantities of alcohol. Others here have pointed out this effect. Too, it does have some rather severe withdrawal problems for many people. You might want to check out web sites such as http://www.drugawareness.org for more info, or read Dr. Peter Breggin's book "Talking Back To Prozac" before going further with A/D drugs. You'll find some real food for thought there. I wish I had had that information many years ago before I got involved with the newer A/D drugs.
