Hi, I've had it in other joints, it's really annoying, seems whenever I find a new fitness or outdoor activity I enjoy, I do it a whole bunch and end up injured.
I have tried NSAIDs, physical therapy, ice, ice/hot water baths, trigger point massage, wraps and braces. Sadly, the one thing that works is the hardest thing, which is laying off the activity that aggravates it. It can take many weeks or months to heal, then when it does, you have to not over-do it again. It helps to have a range of activities that stress different body parts.

I've never had elbow tendonitis but my father did. I remember him wearing a brace and using ice. He continued to play racket ball which I'm sure made it worse. I think he was in a lot of pain.
If you're interested I can confirm with him how he treated it, what worked, and/or what meds helped (prednisone?)
Feel better,
Jade

i have wrist tendinitis, i was on a accident in 2006, i jerked my hand on the steering wheel, and it jacked it out of place, years it went slightly aching, now today i have to massage it at least 4 times a day......i need to get on celebrex for arthritis, im 29 and that stupid accident jacked my tendons up on my hand
getting a electric massage, with heat usually helps with authoritus, and certain pain killers (non narcotic)

Physical therapy. They'll also know some of the best home remedies. I learned about repeated alternating hot cold submergings for affected area. They can also look at your current use of your elbow/arm and give suggestions for slight adjustments of movement when engaging in daily activities.

I agree. Masters level PTs really have a lot to offer. They usually do an hour assessment to figure out the level of disability, weaknesses or overuse where you compensate or avoid using muscles because of pain, exercises to build up surrounding muscles, etc. I had lots of PT after two hip surgeries and a really bad ankle fracture and surgery. I really don't think I would have walked again despite the surgery had it not been for PT.

Hey guys,
thanks for the responses. I have an appointment with a physical therapist next wednesday.
Im not laying off the activity... at least not completely. If i do that, then i will have the next tendonitis when i start sports again.
The brace helps. I see that i train a little bit around the elbow and if i do something that hits the elbow, i am doing 25-30 reps with low weight. I have been doing 12 reps which is way too low for restarting the gym after such a long time.

I don't know whether I had elbow tendonitis or not, but it felt to me like my elbow joint movement was creaky and I had pains around the back of my elbow.
It helped me to foam roll the back of my arm / my tricep. It turned out that there were 'crackly' or 'knotty' parts along the triceps muscle and coaxing them to relax fixed up the problem (along with a little time, I think).
This is the end of the thread.
