Decreasing muscle bulk obtained from working out

Posted by Wildflower on April 29, 2005, at 12:02:36

I teach fitness classes and should know the answer but how can I decrease the bulkiness that I now have in my biceps? I recently increased my weights and I'm stronger but I don't like the look of the upper arm. It makes me look chubby versus shapely. I'll probably decrease the weights again but I don't want the muscle to turn to fat. Help!

The muscle won't turn to fat, so don't worry about that. Decreasing the weight again should do the trick.

Personally, I'm a woman who tends to bulk up pretty quick, so I have to be careful about what I do. I've learned the hard way that on anything related to the upper body, I have to keep the weights pretty low, and do enough reps to put me to sleep...

Sorry, but hope it helps..

I feared that I'd have to go back down and increase the reps. This, after I've been suggesting to my class that they increase their weights. Ugh.

Lower Weight, increase reps is how I was told a person shapes/defines.

More weight/lower reps adds bulk.
