Yes, if it works for you and your particular condition. It isn't a benzodiazepine and for a number of people won't be like one.
But dosing of it other than concern of operating machinery at the beginning, is a medication with some fairly benign side effects -- it could cause blurriness and a few other things, although Lyrica is stronger.
If you have too much at a certain time, it just goes out with the urine, as the amount taken increases. It doesn't go through the liver at all as far as I know.
For me, it was best at the beginning -- or I "felt" it more. Maybe that was good, maybe the speech slurring wasn't good, which went away. However, when it is removed from the mixture, I get breakthrough symptoms. So its doing something, unclear, maybe aiding the Valium.

Neurontin is one of the chief meds in my LLMDs arsenal. He finds benefit from it with a wide variety of issues including anxiety, pain, sleep, and fatigue. And sometimes even depression. Most of his patients are Lymies, so it may not be so helpful for the general population. I don't know. But since you are a Lymie, I would think Neurontin would be a choice with merit for you.
He did say however that the generic is disappointing in his experience with most of his patients. He insists on brand only, but will months later try to switch to generic to see if the patient can get away with. Sometimes they can, more often not. Just be aware that Neurontin is one of those drugs on my LLMDs list that has shown him a significant difference between generic and brand. I know that could be a problem for you with your type of insurance.

Yess, and unless you arent paying then you have no need for lyrica, just a tweaked more potent version which happen to come out when nuerontion went off patent.
One thing is i prefer the tablets,u cant easly cut them, nuerontion also works very well with benzos, almost a synergy.

Thanks guys great info. Reason asked reading that book on healing the mind and all other meds seem to have a substitute med to use except for benzos but neurotin was mentioned for substitution. What dose as pdoc still in the hospital. BB yup medicaire doesn't like brand name. Is it expensive?

I would imagine.
The exclusivity period used to be Greenstone, which is a subsidiary but I doubt it was manufactured in the same plant or exactly the same process. It just made them more money.
Now its Apotex, at least for me. I can't say there is a difference at all but I take 600mg 4x a day which is approaching a typical maximum psychiatric range, so I'm probably dealing with a different amount than you may be.
Starting off with a generic completely means though that you don't have to compare whether something is a generic or not. And I think this is an important point. You've started with whatever is your "real deal".Gabapentin dosing and its curve of effectiveness drops quickly as you go over 600-900mg/dose... the absorption rate, e.g. 70%, 40%, etc... so though absorption might play a role, the fact that a dose that is probably in excess of what it originally was intended for is going to be enough anyhow.

Wonderful for anxiety and the nice thing is it can also act as a mood brightener in contrast to benzos which can be a mood dampener.

I am now taking 600mgs of gabapentin, the generic a day. 300mg with each 100mg of provigil and 1mg of klonopin. Even with the klonopin I notice a benefit from the gabapentin. It makes me feel a little looser, a little lighter. At one time I was taking 900mgs 3x a day so the dosing varies widely. But I think it is a good anxiolitic and a good drug in general. I have noticed only one side effect; sometimes I am a little unsteady on my feet. But no big deal. I think it's worth a try even with benzos.
Hope you're having a good day.Zana

This is an interesting thread. My mum-in-law took this for pain--post hepatic neuralgia (if I got the term right--for the residual nerve pain after her shingles outbreak.) She said it made her very fatigued.
