I have been crying a little more often than usual due to the relentless anxiety I'm getting and how it is affecting my life. I had a couple really all out crying fits this week. I noticed once I got it all out, my anxiety went 100% away. This happened twice this week, and once last week, the only times I really let it out.
Kind of sucks to have to do this, but if it gets rid of the anxiety then so be it. Depression seems to lift as well after the cry, go figure.

Really as thought meds kept you from feeling and crying but I've heard crying rids the body of bad toxins any truth in this? I'd love to be able to really cry. Phillipa

I understood that emotional crying (vs. crying that rids an eye of an irritant) produces prolactin, which helps a body to relieve stress. It does explain why sometimes a "good cry" can be so cathartic and leave us feeling much better. On the other hand, there are times when I can't *stop* crying, and it brings no relief to my melancholy. But one seems to be for a release of pent-up stress, and the other is more like an overflowing bathtub, so maybe that makes sense.

I dislike crying. It seems to make me feel worse, no relief at all. Although I can cry now that I've been off prozacpoison for several years! I couldn't cry on only 20mg. prozac.

Hi Gary,It helps me too. It sucks waiting for it to build up to the point where crying starts but once it gets bad enough to cry and I have a cry, I feel better, not completely better but definitely some.
