Hi,
Yesterday before going to bed i took, for the first time, 7,5 mg of Remeron.
After about 1/2 h i felt in a deep sleep.
This morning I woke up totally drunk, dizzy, drowsy and confused.
I am still out of mind, walk bumping into everting is around my room and can't concentrate my thoughts.
I'm waiting that this hellish situation passed!
Of course i will not certainly take remeron any more!
Any experience like this?
Bye

> ByeDon't give up on it quite yet. Talk to you doctor and see what she/he says. Remeron is generally less sedating at higher doses. I spent 1 day at 15 mg and went straight to 30 mg and didn't find it all that bad - it increased my need for sleep somewhat, but I wasn't a zombie.

Hi Eve,
I once did the same thing. The pdoc gave me some samples of Remeron to try. I took my dose (I can't remember the amt) and had the same experience in the morning that you did. Complete cognitive impairment. Now Emme is probably right in saying, "stick with it, etc...". But after the first morning, I was unwilling to go through that experience again.
As Emme pointed out-- paradoxically, Remeron at higher dosages, is less sedating than at smaller dosages, so please don't try to take less to combat excessive sleepiness.
At the time that I tried the Remeron, I was very fed-up with the ineffectiveness and the side effects of the SSRIs. If I had to do it over again, I would probably have stuck with it for more than A DAY!
Please though, don't rely solely on our opinions here-- talk to your pdoc. Don't be afraid to call your doctor, even for the slightest concerns!
Hang in there,
Tim

Hi,
I took Remeron once and slept for 36 hours and was groggy and ineffective for another 12 after that. So my doctor said to double the dose because it was less sedating at higher doses. He was right. I only slept for 20 hours before waking groggy and ineffective. That was my last trial with Remeron.
However, I am extremely sensitive to medication and, as always your mileage may (and probably will) vary.

Howdy,Got the same exact experience you did. In addition I wanted to tear people's head's off and sh*t down their neck. Taking more didn't help. Taking *less* didn't either. I was half dreaming/half awake for the first half of the next day! It sucked big time. If you are having this kind of reaction I would talk to your doctor and get it switched ASAP.

Hi to everybody!
There been passed 36 h since i took my dose of remeron and i'm still a little dizzy and drowsy!
Things went a little better since last night but i'm not still awake and alert again.
I hope to return to my normal situation during this day.
I think remeron is pure poison for me, but, i see, not only for me: how long does it lives in our blood? A century? Other drugs effects usually disappear in 10-12 h max. Who made remeron? a Wizard, perhaps, mixing lizard tails and toad tongue?
I'm waiting to coming back to life!
I will keep you informed about!
Bye

HI,
AFTER TAKING REMERON SOLTABS, 30 MG. FOR THREE DAYS, I EXPERIENCED A CLASS 1 IMMUNILOGICAL (BLOOD THICKENING) REACTION (WITH HIVES) AND WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR FOUR DAYS. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS KIND OF REACTION? I'D LOVE TO TALK TO YOU.

Hi, I'm here again!
There been passed about 48 h since i took remeron, and only now i'm slowly caming back to life.
I'm still confused and a little dizzy but i think most part of the drug should be actually metabolized by my liver. My eyes are still loaded and my vision is not still focused.
I'm hoping for a total fade for tomorrow morning.
This was the most terrible and experience i had on AD, and i think it's better to keep depression but not to experience this again!
Why does this drug last so long in our body?
I know that usually Ad effects fade wery quickly!
Bye

Uh, yea--I would say that it's pretty much a no-brainer at this point.
Just say no to Remeron!BTW: Speaking of complete and utter cognitive impairment in regards to a drug that won't let go out of your system -- I recently had the same experience with Serzone. It took forever- like a week after I stopped taking it- for any mind stabilization. A big dose of Klonipin really seemed to finally nip the problem in the bud.
My God, for a while I thought it had damaged my brain!

> ByeRemeron is an awesome antidepressant. However it is one of the most sedating ADs and for that reason I think it should be used more for agitated depression. Its fantastic for insomnia. However anyone who is sleeping too much from depression would be best off staying away from Remeron, due to its sedating profile.
Have you tried plain old SSRIs? The SSRIs are not as sedating as Remeron and tend to be more activating.

Somewhere around 45 or 60 mg Remeron depending on the person, Remeron raises norepinephrine levels high enough to counteract the anti-histamine dose it causes at 7.5,15 & 30 mg.
Also, for some reason Remeron has a much longer elimination half life in women than men and also causes weight gain so women probably shouldn't take it.

> Also, for some reason Remeron has a much longer elimination half life in women than men and also causes weight gain so women probably shouldn't take it.I personally never found Remeron to be very sedating, not even at 15 mg. But then again I had an extremely nasty, agitated depression in the beginning with severe insomnia. Couldnt sleep a lick despite being exhausted. Remeron quickly solved that problem and I was grateful for its sedating profile. But I cant relate to all these complaints I hear about Remeron flooring people with oversedation. It makes me wonder if many of the people who try Remeron are that agitated to begin with.
I havent been on Remeron in years now, but for agitated depression its awesome.

Hi,
after 72 h i'm completely off this drug.
I think now all traces of remeron has been vanished and i feel pretty fine.
My eyes aren't load anymore and my vision is focused again.
My normal energy seems stabilized again, and i think this is truly the end of my story with remeron.
I've read that this drug could be no sedative at higher dosage rather than at lower dosage, but i'm too scary about this experience to test another time!
I tank you wery much indeed for your help and support.
Bye

Correction: It wasn't Serzone the AD, it was Seroquel the atypical antipsychotic that caused my chronic brain fart.

30 mgs of remeron knocked me out the first 2 days. After that it wasn't sedating at all. I got to the target dose of 60 mg and had no sedation.
This is the end of the thread.
