Hi Eve,
I once did the same thing. The pdoc gave me some samples of Remeron to try. I took my dose (I can't remember the amt) and had the same experience in the morning that you did. Complete cognitive impairment. Now Emme is probably right in saying, "stick with it, etc...". But after the first morning, I was unwilling to go through that experience again.
As Emme pointed out-- paradoxically, Remeron at higher dosages, is less sedating than at smaller dosages, so please don't try to take less to combat excessive sleepiness.
At the time that I tried the Remeron, I was very fed-up with the ineffectiveness and the side effects of the SSRIs. If I had to do it over again, I would probably have stuck with it for more than A DAY!
Please though, don't rely solely on our opinions here-- talk to your pdoc. Don't be afraid to call your doctor, even for the slightest concerns!
Hang in there,
Tim
