Listen, mate, when Norman Mailer first submitted his manuscript for "The Naked and the Dead", he had his grunts talk like real soldiers do. That meant it was "f*ckin' this" and "f*ckin' that" throughout the book -- which, incidentally, I consider a masterpiece, as do many others. Finally, fed up with the publisher's demand that he clean up the salty language, Mailer came up with a solution: a word that would sound alike if spoken aloud, and his famous word "fug" was born as a substitute for "f*ck." So the book, when published, read "fuggin' this" and "fuggin' that." Might want to give that a try and spare yourself a few PBCs. Unless somehow "fug" joins "f*rt" on the list of verboten words here. Strewth! Anything's bloody possible with the language police around these parts. Atticus
