I do it for between 30 seconds and 5 minutes several times a day. It is hard. I started with 30 seconds. You can feel your attention wander away from whatever you are trying to be attending to and back to other stuff - and you are just supposed to draw it back without giving yourself a hard time about it. Over and over and over. And... In a way the point isn't about successfully focusing on one thing for however long you have set yourself - in a way the point is just the process of focusing and refocusing your attention.

Neither am I. I don't think many people are. You can think of attention as something of a muscle and the more you exercise it the better your control over it becomes...
