I've never had this problem at work. :(

But at school I used to work ahead in the book. Teachers rarely complained if I wasn't paying attention because I was working ahead.

Is there some way to work on things that haven't been assigned to anyone? I'm not sure what size company you work for. Smaller ones are often lacking documentation in job descriptions or procedures. Is there any work you can volunteer to do that would qualify as above and beyond?
