Gabette, manic..I absolutely, couldn't agree more, and I am so sorry you guys had to go through all of this. Medical staff (Docs, Pdocs, Nurses...Not all but many) are so misinformed, and some I feel are arrogant and think they hold some kind of 'secret' knowledge about psych meds (and benzos especially). Not only is the contempt they hold for our actions (and knowledge that we sometimes know more about psych meds then them) humiliating, it's like they somehow want us to suffer more, with their patronizing attitude. Benzos have such an absolute record of proving that they do *work*. (Far better and faster, unlike all of the antidepressants and such.) I see it as, if I have to be on medication for the rest of my life (and my gawwdd...our lives are short enough as it is!) every single person has a right to access meds that work. Yes, there are some who maybe "abuse" benzo's recreationally, but my way of thinking is that maybe people who even use them for recreation actually need to be on a benzo anyway.
It's all of this "war on drugs" and 'big brother knows best' hysterical crap. Somebody save us from these sadistic people!
