Actually, that's been one of my soapbox issues for years -- sex isn't necessarily shown in a way I'd like children to see, but I'd rather they see sex than violence.
I figure, most of us want our children -- if we have them -- to experience sex. Most of us do not want our children to experience violence.
So, uh, why do so many people freak out at sexual behavior on TV or in movies, but think violence is just fine?
I used to go along with others when they said they were seeing movies that included violence, even though I knew I found violence upsetting. These days, I don't. Sorry -- you wanna go see the latest shoot'em'up? Go right ahead. See ya!
So, not a nationality issue, but point taken. I guess what I was trying to get across is that there are so many words in the English language, it seems kinda unimaginative to use one particular Anglo-Saxon term over and over. Probably my inner grammarian coming up for air...
