My husband and I just watched "American Hardcore," and it was sure a wandering stroll down memory lane. For me, at least -- my husband hadn't moved here yet, and wasn't interested in that sort of music then.
I didn't see a lot of the people I was hoping to see, nor hear a lot of the music I would have liked to hear. Then again, really, the mid-80s were past my time in punk. Black Flag and the Circle Jerks were around, and of course the Bad Brains, but some of the other bands were just starting or hadn't yet started when I moved on to whatever I moved on to...
Some of it made me sad -- many of the people interviewed are older even than I, and to hear the F-word used as every possible part of speech was a little distressing. And to see that some of them really haven't moved on.
And it was hysterical to see Moby saying he sang for Flipper for a while! Interesting, isn't it, that they didn't know about it...
Ah, well... My misspent youth...
