The Exploratorium is a great deal of fun -- and your hubby might enjoy it, too.

The Palace of the Legion of Honor is probably my favorite museum in the City. The City art museums are sorted, more of less, by their collections. Roughly, European is at the Palace of the Legion of Honor, American is at the deYoung. Both are good destinations, with a lot to see. (The deYoung is in Golden Gate Park, so you'd be near growing things -- including the Arboretum and the Japanese Tea Garden, which are both lovely places to visit.

The Academy of Sciences gave me hours and hours of thrills as a kid, and I'd even try to go with you now. I haven't been since they rebuilt. DOH! Just saw they haven't reopened yet. They do have a temporary site downtown.

The Zoo, although that's mostly because I think it's near where you're staying.

Berkeley has the Hearst museum of anthropology.

And I'm pretty blank otherwise. If I think of anything more, I'll let you know.
