> You don't like Brian Eno? There's about 5 albums by him I like, Here Come the Warm Jets, Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy, Another Green World, Before and After Science. You don't know Another Green World? Also La Roca II, (that's the name of the album), I forget the name of the person behind it. Good trance music. I'd just like to put in a word for the wonderful Natalie Merchant, Ophelia and Motherland are both wonderful.
> DeclanThanks Declan,
I don't know these artists, but I will check it out. You like baroque stuff, huh? Early classical. Have you ever had the opportunity to see a really excellent quartet perform any of Haydn's Str. Quartets live? It's like indoor fireworks. Musical jewellery.I was off mozart for a while, because I went through a couple years when I played all of his last symphonies masses etc. (I'm a violinist). Now we're friends again. I have not had nearly enough opportunity to play Haydn though. The violin parts scare the bejeezus out of me!!
Ah... Handel. So intricate. So expressive within the structure. And Tallis. Divine. I would love to hear some of his choral music live in a booming gothic cathedral. R. Vaughan-Williams wrote an interesting piece for string orchestra. Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis. You might like it. It has some gorgeous swells and melancholic viola solos. Sweeping, yet intimate.
yours,
