I've been here since 2001, just about five years now. The boards do go through different cycles. Sometimes I feel as if I've found my home and delightful new friends, sometimes it seems like normal, and sometimes I feel like a three headed fish, because what's being discussed at that time doesn't mesh well with my life experiences. Sometimes I'm even angry. I'm not saying anything about posters or even about themes. Just about how they fit *me* at that moment.
But one thing for sure is that the cycles will change again, and the dominant themes will change, and you'll feel more at home, or less at home.
And that's ok, in the larger sense. Or at least it is with me.
So what I do when I feel like you is check in, look at threads, chime in when I feel comfortable, and start a thread or two that interest me if I'm in the mood. Because really a board is what the users make of it. And there might be many people who feel as you do, but aren't posting because they aren't comfortable with the majority of the posts. But by posting, you tip the balance a bit, and if others join in, it tips a bit more, until maybe it's at a balance you are comfortable with.
We had a similar discussion on Psychology lately about CBT and other non-transference based therapies.
All assuming of course, that everything is within Dr. Bob's guidelines. If it's Dr. Bob who's the problem, you probably don't have a lot of ability to effect change yourself. :)
I have no idea what board you're talking about so I really don't know.
