I'm a Canadian - Ontario north of Toronto and believe me, I cannot think of ONE 14-year-old who, in my opinion, is mature enough to do a LOT of things & one of those things is to have sex.
Probably a lot of them THINK they're mature enough to "like" do "like ya know" ANYthing "like"....yes, there are still kids who speak like that!
From my observations, children & 'young people' receive tons of pressure to 'grow up', to views themselves as sex objects & in particular to be sexually active. Companies use sex to market everything from deodorant to T-shirts & shoes. I feel really sorry for kids growing up these days & I think they should be encouraged to wait to be sexual. They need to know that it's OKAY to wait, if not downright PREFERABLE to wait.

PS - my 22 year old son & his 23 year old girlfriend (that's another story on another post) both are appalled by the attitudes of the 'next generation' behind them. In that generation it seems it's not only cool to be sexually active, but cool to sleep around (whether you're a guy or a girl). I hope it's only a certain crowd, but my son & gfriend say that it's really, really sad the pressure on younger kids & the fact that they're buying into it.
