In reply to Unreasonable Anger: mood instability or bad mood?, posted by Sonya on August 9, 2005, at 8:48:57
I also struggle with being able to tell the difference! It was only when I was able to pinpoint just what was making me irritable and/or angry that I realized that what I was experiencing was instability and rapid cycling. I did a lot of journalling during times of anger and that helped greatly.
This is after several years of therapy and before that, self medicating with alcohol. I am BP2 as well, and have GAD and panic attacks. I started taking Topamax in January as a mood stabilizer and it is helping a great deal.
Now if I could only trust that a Good Mood wasn't going to decompose into a manic episode!! That's my next hurdle.
