Yeah, ok the radio guy was different because he really wanted to go to sleep but wouldn't let himself. Whereas you really want to get to sleep but are having trouble. You are getting a bit (not a lot to be sure) but a bit. What may be true as well is that you are spending more time *dozing* than you realise.
I remember how I felt in coming off Imovane / Zopiclone cold Turkey after being on 2 per night for around 7 years.
In the end I sort of gave up aiming for sleep and aimed for *relaxation* instead. I did progressive muscle relaxation and then focusing on my breathing mindfulness exercises just trying to focus on the slow breathing and let the racing thoughts just wash over me.
Not saying that this helped me get to sleep.
But it helped relax me through the process.
It really did take about a week before I got a proper nights sleep. A good 2 or 3 before I had regular sleep patterns again.You can do it.
You WILL NOT go nuts.
You are doing great.
