It sounds lovely Dinah!! I love decorations that actually mean things! Our flat (apartment) is tiny, so all we have is a small tree.. But we have decorations (some too big for it, but I nestled them in the branches) from holidays and things that mean stuff to me, and it makes me happy! I want to raid my mums decoration box for the decorations that I remember from my childhood (since dad has died her decorations are all very tasteful!! She wanted that every year, but me and Dad always over ruled her!).. She ahas tons, some dating back to when her and Dad had their first tree in 1959! Some are the most beautiful glass ones from when they lived in Germany in the sixties.. she says they're tacky (very 60's/70's!) but they hold wonderful memories for me!!

A few years before Dad died, he built a little wooden shed for mums nativity, and wired up lights in the roof of it! But this year it didn't work, and it really upset mum.. so I raided my memory for my electrical engineer training, got the multi meter out, then the soldering iron, and in 45 mins it was working as good as new!! I was really pleased I managed it, and it was nice to see mum so happy. I'm teerribly worried that she's not happy.. I *know* she's not happy.. But I don't know what to do about it.

My brothers have been wonderful, and both emailed me photos of the kids opening pressies and things, as they know I miss not being with them.. I thought that was lovely of them.

Its been a nice christmas day all in all!! And Santa spoiled me rotten (and I've been able to wear my new pyjamas all day!!!)!!

Merry Christmas Dinah!

Nikki xx
