I'm so sorry, wildcard. It always sort of jumps out from behind a defense when a moment such as the dance triggers pain. And with you being pregnant (when are you going to drop that kid??????) :), I imagine it's even more painful. I'm certain you are a loving and generous mommy. I'm sorry your parents don't seem to see and respond to your lovely qualities.
I have a similar issue whenever I see father's and daughters interacting with love and affection. And I didn't do the daddy-daughter dance at my wedding even though my dad attended. I'd never ever danced with him, you see, and I didn't want our first time ever to be so meaningful and so public. Maybe that was spiteful, but it just hurt too much. Still does to some extent, but I'm learning that's just all my father is capable of.
