Find a way to gather up your self esteem and think about the fact that maybe, just maybe she might like you instead of him.

Don't give up just yet. Now your friend, I would have nothing to do with him. But her, go after it, show her you care. Send her some flowers. Call her up, ask her out. Try it, it might work.
