I sent a follow-up yesterday, but must not have clicked the send button. Anyway -
Yeah, I get you about OA. I go to AA and felt the same was at first, but was able to find meetings that were more to my liking. I don't know if OA has a lot of meetings in your area that you could check out.
I know OA proposes a diet without sugar or refined grains of any sort.
And, whether in OA or not, there's a lot to be said for having some people you check in with about this and to whom you feel accountable. With any addictive behavior denial and dishonesty are big issues - as in, I won't today, or maybe I will today but I won't tomorrow....
