Good for you. It sounds like you absolutely knew what you wanted and were able to get there, despite her resistance.
I agree with Dinah that there are times when we just get all we can from a particular therapist. I had a particularly intense, dysfunctional relationship with my previous therapist, and things did just fizzle--I got fed up, told her I'd call in a couple of weeks, never did call, and never went back. Never returned her calls. And I still feel fine about it. So, I think it's possible not to have that big "termination" and still feel okay. The thing is, you have to be a at certain level of trust and intimacy with your therapist to have the big termination and truly feel you got something out of it. And if you don't, you don't.
