Hi Phillipa,
I'm sorry you haven't yet felt the benefits of the therapy. I had the feeling that CBT was meant to be short-term and brings more immediate results - could it be that you would be helped by two simultaneous approaches? Have you tried many different types of therapy? I did get some CBT advice from the first pdoc I saw (only in two sessions) and get some of that now from my current pdoc (although truth be told I'd rather he didn't!!). I see an analyst, so my therapy is at the complete opposite end of the spectrum I guess.
I suppose the question of benefits from therapy will depend on what you want to get out of therapy - what kind of changes do you hope for? Can the therapy bring about these changes? Have you been able to talk about your concerns with your T. It must be terribly frustrating. I things change for the better.
Take care,
Witti.
