when i started looking for a new T i did a bunch of research and that was how i found out about transference. so when i met my new T i asked him questions about his practice and CBT in general. he very quickly understood that i wantd to understand the process and would look stuff up anyway so he told me to have a look at schema therapy and tell him what i thought.
i found lots of stuff and right now i am reading an online version of a book meant for training T's.
www.therapist-training.com.au/young.pdfHas anyone here been in schema therapy?
it was developed for personality disorders but this book says it can be used for a variety of things. It grew out of CBT but it incorporates some psychodynamic and gestalt. It can be short or long, depending on what is needed, but it's generally mid-range.
i am not sure what to think. it seems heavily connected with personality disorders and it makes me worry that he thinks i have one. i don't. i even asked my pdoc that question. That isn't meant to offend any people with a PD, but if he thinks that then he is misreading me and that worries me.
i would really appreciate any feedback on schema...also called CBT-S
thanks
