I like my therapist

Posted by Dinah on February 9, 2007, at 16:46:12

Two sessions ago, I felt like he was too invested in a certain idea of what was best for me at work. And I told him he needed to back off, that he wasn't being helpful, and that I thought he was pushing me to do what he thought was best for me. I told him that I thought it best that we didn't talk about work.

It wasn't a terribly confrontational thing. I knew he wanted the best for me. What he thought was best maybe, but the best.

Today I gingerly brought up work again, and he was much much more helpful.

I really like how my therapist listens to what I say, and if he thinks I may have a point, feels free to change tracks.

I guess I even like that he cares enough to get overinvested. But I like better that he can recognize that and quit.
