My cat died a little over a year ago, but I think you're right, that this brought up a lot of feelings about the cat, also because this was an old, sick dog, and my cat was sick (although not old) for five years before he died. So, there's a lot of sadness and helplessness involved.And trying as hard as you can to help a pathetic creature makes me feel good but also very useless and sad. And it reminds me of how my therapist must feel trying to help me.
