Hi Alexandra,I once had a dream about my therapist where it was my session but his office had turned into a stage, and he had a bunch of acquaintances there as actors and audience and he was the director and was quite literally telling me to perform.
I started having a temper tantrum. "This is not what I want to do with my therapy session," and I started stamping my foot. Stage director-therapist said, "Oh good, you dance flamenco too."
This, after years of therapy where we have already built up a bit of an alliance, and I still sometimes feel like a circus animal. At the first session!!! Oh no, your instincts are right.
