There are many forms of therapy and no one is right for everyone. And most likely, different types of therapy are right for the same person at different times of their life. If you feel like you need CBT right now to gain coping mechanisms, then listen to your gut. If you feel that this therapist is not what you need at this moment, then listen to your gut there, too.
Sometimes I think therapy is a bit too much like other relationships in that we might try to mold the relationship we're in into the shape that we want, instead of finding a relationship that fits our healthy needs.
If I ever look for a therapist again, I'm going to go in with it with the idea that it's perfectly ok to try a few on and see what fits. Like dating.
