Probably the anxiety of speaking in front of people (performance anxiety) causes you to depersonalize.

It's more like I saw them in a movie or TV show.I think it is the same thing. I have had events happen to me that weren't very fun and although I remember that they happened, I depersonalized, so I can't remember specific details. I think depersonalizing is a way of coping with something or suffering through something you can't escape. Since you can't leave physically, you "leave" mentally.
